I had a tape of this show that, only 18 months after the show, sounded like it was 20 generations from the master. It was so distorted that it was not labeled a SBD, even though I was, and am, pretty sure it was. At the time I got the tape, Brent was still brand new and the jury was still out. Donna haters stand down. I've always thought there was a melancholy tone to this show although the set lists and playing are really good - perhaps that's my bias. It is certainly the end of an incredibly creative era.
My favorite part of this show is when Donna flubs the lyrics in "From the Heart of Me" and after the song is over someone, Jerry perhaps, says, "We all do it." That moment of genuineness always struck me as the essence of what made the band great.

Last Donna & Keith show
The previous review said it was Brent's first show. It was not. It was Keith & Donna's last show though. Brent didn't play live unti; late April in San Jose (I think 4-22).
Great show though. I missed them not play Lazy Lightnin'/Supplication after seeing it a lot at the begining of my touring ('78-834 or so). The Supplication "jam" they started doing around '85 was not good. It was like Weir wanted to play the jam, but everyone else wanted no part. Iremember a show in '85 at Saratoga Springs, NY where Jerry just kept playing the starting riff to Lazy Lightning over & over throught the Supplication am and Bobby was looking annoyed. Jerry just wanted to play the whole thing, but Weir couldn't sing it well anymore.

First Brent Show!
absolutely amazing show! from the first song to the last. just remember being on the wall and going absolutely crazy over the lazy lightnin end of the first set and the whole second set! great to have this available.
